This tut talks about various things you can add to your picture once it's "done" to make it look better. Most obviously I didn't listed ALL the possibilities that one can use, I just listed up the things I usually do.

And of course any skilled digital painter would be able to choose their palettes beforehand and get their painting fully finished in one go, but well, not all of us are that skilled and it always help to learn some trickery to help you when things doesn't look good enough.
